Library Assistant

Haworth Municipal Library is looking for an organized, creative and self-motivated person for the position of Library Assistant. Haworth Library is a comfortable, welcoming space and we pride ourselves on small town friendliness and helpfulness. We're small, so everyone wears multiple hats, whether it's answering a reference question, showing a child where the Magic Tree House books are, or refilling the Keurig carousel.

Requirements:

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of LEAP, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• College degree preferred.
• Ability to work independently and with the team.

Individuals may need to sit or stand for extended duration, bend and lift books, bags and boxes of materials, upwards of 25 pounds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work at the Circulation Desk, answer questions, use telephone, and email.
• Check in & out materials.
• Process library holds and loans.
• Create and update patron records.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Shelve and organize library materials.
• Run reports and compile monthly stats.
• Handle patron financial transactions.
• Assist with computer and library equipment.
• Process library materials.
• Plan and host adult programs.
• Attend library related meetings and trainings.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Director.

This is a part time position, 13 hours per week with potential to cover additional shifts. Weekend and evening hours may be required. Salary is commensurate with experience.
