BALTIMORE, MD — “American Idol” finalist Dimitrius Graham is representing his hometown of Baltimore on the hit ABC show. This week he performed “Love Somebody” with Lucas Graham, who joked they should form a boy band called The Grahams.
He wasn’t the only one who saw stardom in his future.
“He’s the male Beyonce, honestly,” judge Katie Perry said of Dimitrius Graham after the duet.
“I’m going to go so far as to say that was the best sounding duet I’ve heard today,” Perry said, lauding the 27-year-old for taking constructive criticism from judges and incorporating it into his performance. “You did not overdo it; it was perfect.”
Judge Luke Bryan said that the Grahams’ duet was the “best thing I’ve heard today.”Subscribe
Added Bryan: “You’re one of the best singers that I’ve ever heard, and it’s so fun watching you put the equation together and learn on the fly.”
Dimitrius Graham will appear this weekend on “American Idol” along with more than a dozen finalists. The public will be invited to vote.
“He was determined to be on ‘American Idol’ a long time ago,” his mom told ABC 2 News when he surprised her at her Windsor Mill home in March to watch the show after not seeing her for a year.
The Baltimore native has had fans cheering him on throughout the series back home, including the leader of the Baltimore Ceasefire movement, Erricka Bridgeford.
